What are alkyl polyglucosides (APG)?

Alkyl polyglucosides (APGs) are a unique class of non-ionic surfactants made from fatty alcohols derived from palm kernel oil or coconut oil, and glucose from corn . These biosurfactants offer a multitude of benefits ranging from excellent skin compatibility to streak-free cleaning .

² Readily biodegradable” means ≥ 60% degradation within 28 days. Measured by the OECD 301 methods.

Where can APGs be used in Home Care?

Hard Surface Cleaning

Streak-free performance, high foaming and excellent fragrance oil solubilization. These are two reasons why APGs are the ideal surfactant for hard surface cleaners.

Laundry

Glucopon® range can also be used in laundry detergents to complement or partially replace harsher surfactants. At BASF, we offer the technical expertise needed to employ APGs in laundry applications.
